VLC 1.1.0 and VLC 1.2.0 RTMP output

Postby natanael » 01 Jul 2010 15:25

Is it possible to publish a stream to a FMS/Wowza/Red5 server using RTMP ouput ?

If so, how should be the commandline, with say:
Application URL => rtmp : // serverip : port / application
Stream => publishedstreamname
??

Thanks and regards

Is this (fixes to RTMP output) still planned for 1.2? I ask because this is something I've been wanting for the past several years so that I can finially ditch my windows encoding boxes and so would be interesting in testing this.

look j-b,

I wish VLC coders can make this RTMP function in VLC. It would open a whole new world for us streamers.
With RTMP support we can directly stream to any CDN (content delivery network) we want to.

I am willing to donate funds if it will speed up the developement on this area.

Heh, since last summer I've been trying to pursuade the powers that be let me spend a few months on this now that the spec is out. Sadly this is one area when open source is as damaging as helpful in that they now have the impression that it will be done eventually by someone else :/ Sadly the need isnt core to the business so Ive accepted that that battle is lost.

My original question was more in relation to viewtopic.php?f=2&t=78590&p=258779&hilit=rtmp#p258779 where you (Edit : oops sorry I mean Jean-Baptiste) say RTMP support will be changed in 1.2 and I was hoping it was a reason to be happy :)
