Recording from Radio (web)

Postby glacerda » 27 Mar 2005 19:17

Hi All,
I have been learning about streaming in the last 48 hours. Quite a lot but not enough to solve my problem... I would like to be able to record radio programs from the BBC Radio 3 to my hard drive (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/). The format is irrelevant; what ever you think would provide the best quality. What I am trying to record specifically is:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks ... icshow_sat

I tried all options, but being a novice means I don't know enough about to find the answer; hopefully you will.

I followed the Wizard and also tried through the FIle > "Open Network Stream" options to no avail. When I can get a file to be recorded it is blank, no sound.

What am I doing wrong? I am enclosing a past from the Messages Window from my last attempt.

Many thanks in advance.

When I tried the link, it looks like it's a Real stream, with Real audio -- proprietary.

Thank you for the reply.
I take it that is it? It cannot be done at all? Not even with another application perhaps?
Thank you.

Streaming

You can run a program that records whatever is going to your soundcard main output while playing a realaudio or any stream, for instance Audio Playback Recorder from http://www.tongsoft.com will do. There are other ¨stream¨ recorders out there as well.

stream output

when you dig into the html source you will find tha the actual stream played is

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/shows/rp ... ow_sat.rpm

is that of any help?

i am trying to capture these streams as well, but whatever i get onto my harddrive seems rubbish. so if you've got a tip on that side i'd be glad.[
