HTTP streaming Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition x64

Postby hollow » 31 Jan 2010 00:07

Hello,

After posting for Ubuntu viewtopic.php?f=4&t=70927 and getting a very prompt and usefull feedback, I run into another issue. I had to change the Ubuntu os to w2k8 Server x64. My intention is to make http streaming functional in this environment also, so I made the same settings and gave the same commands like in my previous thread.

Scenario:
1. I have w2k8 Server on 64bits.
2. Apache x64
3. VLC x86 (no current x64 releae as I read) => x86 codecs =>a .flv movie won't even open as a file, for local view.
4. Installed K-Lite x64 codecs(which contains ffdshow and avlivcode avcodec) => local view, udp and http streaming.

Issues:
1. The streaming works well with JW Player for DSL internet connections.
2. The streaming works well 3G connection, but with VLC client, not JW Player.
3. The streaming freezes very often with 3G connections and JW Player.

NOTE: In 1 and 2, it stops every 4-5 minutes for a few seconds, and more often, after the streaming begins.

Observations:
1. In Ubuntu I got a very good quality and no freezes neither on cable nor 3G connections.
2. I would like a steady flow, in both cable and 3G connections.
3. 3G goes as high as 3,6 Mbps here.

Cause:
1. Is it because of x64-x86-VLC-OS-Apache-Codecs combinations?

Thank you!
