pure streaming player

Postby debe » 06 Dec 2004 14:14

I would like to use the VLC media player the default streaming player.

I want to open VLC immediatly after I click on a link in Firefox 1.0 and start to play the video from the URL (and not downloading the file and then opening VLC), just like when I use Windows Media Player.

Is it possible ?

Same question available with Knoppix 3.4

I know it is possible with opera, so your question reduces to a pure firefox tweaking question, which this may not be the right place to ask.

On my opera (7.50B linux) I only go to preferences->file types. Then I select the file type in question choose "open with other application" select vlc, and check the little box underneeth saying "pass url to application directly"

Return to “VLC stream-output (sout)”
