MPEG2 transcode field order option

Postby luislavena » 06 Feb 2009 22:25

Hello Eveyrbody!

I've been trying to get VLC to stream content to my Amino 110 box. So far, it worked without too many issues :D

Streaming existing MPEG2 content to the box worked without issues, but streaming DV content from my camera is always with issues.

It seems that VLC assumes a upper field first for the PAL content, while the MPEG2 output is flagged as lower field first, thus generating an awkward effect in the output.

I've tried using deinterlace, but since I'm using a TV to view the content, deinterlacing (bob, linear or whatever) generates a ghosting effect in the camera movements.

This is more noticeable when moving the camera side-toside or having high moving scenes.

I couldn't find anywhere in the documentation, the wiki, the forum and the application settings a way to reverse the field dominance for either the input or the output.

I'm using dshow:// protocol for the camera and sout transcode for the output:

MPEG2-TS
Video: MPEG-2, 4096 Kbps, Scale 1
Audio: MPEG Audio, 128 Kbps, 2 channels
UDP Unicast, TTL: 1
No subtitles

Looking forward for suggestions and advice. Thank you.
