Postby pithhelmet » 04 Oct 2004 18:01

Hi Everyone -

Kinda new at this streaming here...

so here is the question.

If i have 10 cameras (10 machines)
each one is multicasting on its on port -

small screen 320x240 black and white images

what is the bandwith usage going to be??

thanks

You control the BW per multicast. You have to use transcoding, to convert the raw camera video to something. That means that you need to select a Video codec in Transcoding Options.

A normal 320x240, low end, Webcam will only support a max of 15 fps.

I would probably try setting the video BW to 256 kbps (and probably leave the actual CODEC at its default mp4v), which means that 10 streamers would use about 2.5 Mbps total bandwidth.

(there's actually some overhead, but it's a good first-order approximation)
