Protect streams by IP?

Postby rbarrero » 28 Feb 2008 23:39

Hi;

I've got a streaming server setup and web users can view the content using a streaming page (using vlc plugin) I've setup.

These same users can still load the stream using a native VLC client though going directly to the target. :( Is there a way to restrict who can connect with an allowed hosts list?

I can setup iptables and add firewall policies to allow this, but I want to know if there is something built-in to VLC that will do the same. The http vlc interface has a hosts list for allowed admins... is there something like this for protecting streams?

Thanks,

Rafael

Unfortunately, the ACL subsystem is not used by the HTTP streaming output at the moment. Feel free to file a feature request ticket.
