live audio streaming under LINUX

Hello everyone

can I configure VLC to capture audio from my audio card (Sound blaster Live) and stream it? I've tried to use the Video 4 Linux tab with leaving the "video device name" blank with no success. Is there a way to do it via the command line?

I use Xubuntu 7.10.

Yeah you can, but it is a bit tricky. You need to install vlc with shout support.
