Streaming MP3 from Alsa soundcard using VLC

Hi,

Is it possible to use VLC to stream MP3 (or other format) from an ALSA soundcard ?
The goal is to stream the sound to a deflector like icecast or Darwin Streaming Server using RTP(RTSP)
