Xbox series x - washed out color

Hey all,

First, Ive been playing large remux sources (60-90 gb) on my xbox series x using the movie and tv app. The files play in perfect color and sound, but give a memory error message halfway through the movie, I then need to restart the xbox to continue the second part of the movie.

With the VLC app, and all settings the same as the movies and tv app, on the same hardware, the file plays perfectly with no errors. However, the file starts playing in hdr10, then within 1 second switches to a greyish, washed out picture. The sound remains the same and clear.

As all settings are the same on the xbox, the reciever and the projector, in both cases using the VLC app and the movies app, I get some type of error. I dont believe this to be a hardware issue, or that settings on the hardware should be adjusted, as it does work otherwise. Any suggestions?

So to simply my post... VLC triggers hdr in the menu, but when I exit the menu after one second, it toggles hdr off and Im left with a greyish video. My projector, avr and xbox series x all play hdr in every other app, game, streaming. But vlc will not play a remux video file in hdr. Otherwise, no errors, file plays perfectly.
