Bugs in VLC for Windows Store in Windows 8.1 / Windows RT

Hello,

I am a user who is quite fond of your VLC for Windows Store app in Windows 8.1 (VLC for Windows Store 3.1.1.0). However, I have noticed numerous bugs.
  • Clicking the video effects option on the app bar when a video is playing crashes the app.
  • Crashing occurs after pressing the back button and playing another video when already playing a video.
  • Pinning to Start for music (albums or audio tracks) does not pin the items to Start; no tile options for pinning are even provided.
  • Switching the theme to the Light theme does not automatically update the interfaces for settings or for the seek bar when playing a video; both elements are still black even after restarting the app.
  • Using the Charms bar to click Settings and clicking the Settings option that appears in the window does not do anything.
I can post Windows Event Viewer information or other details. I have screenshots but I do not have time to upload them.

Please follow up with me on these details because, in spite of these issues, I love this app; it is the only multimedia app for Windows 8.1 / Windows RT that is still supported.

What is your device?
Thank you so much for responding.

Are you asking what type of device am I using? It is a laptop.

Please let me know if this answers your question. I experience the same bugs across three different devices (one is a laptop that has a touchscreen).

Windows version? Laptop version?

Also, why do you like this Windows store version?

Windows version?
Windows 8.1 with the latest updates.
Laptop version?
Also, why do you like this Windows store version?
  • It is the latest version of any such application for Windows 8.1 / Windows RT.
  • It conforms with Metro, aesthetically and as a platform.
  • It provides both Dark and Light themes — the only player for the Windows Runtime to do so.
  • It is the only multimedia player for the Windows Runtime of which I am aware that allows me to browse the network for content.
  • It is the only video player for the Windows Runtime of which I am aware that allows audio to play in the background.
  • It offers many benefits over its alternatives, but the bugs mar the experience for me.
