VLC not playing SRT subtitles on XBOX One through UPNP

Hi everyone,

usually I am quite tech savvy but when it comes to network protocols, my head starts spinning a little bit.
That's why I was quite happy when I managed to install a Synology NAS in my system and hook all my devices up to it. I shared all my NAS folders through SMB, which works fine usually. All files are playing and all SRT subtitles are displayed correctly on the XBOX VLC.

The issue is: As long as the NAS is inactive, my XBOX One VLC doesn't display the SMB instance (I have to get the NAS going first (usually by starting a video on my Phone), then I have to restart VLC three to ten times and at some point it recognises the SMB instance). It does, however, show my NAS as a UPnP device, so I started watching videos through UPnP. Until I tried to display subtitles, because external subtitles aren't recognised when watching over UPnP.

So I have three questions:

1. Is there any workaround how to watch videos with subtitles using the UPnP connection?
2. Is there any chance I can get VLC to recognise my SMB instance of my NAS quicker?
3. Is there anything in development that might help me with my issues?

Thanks everyone. You're doing an amazing job!

P.S. VLC for my fireTV stick does not have the SMB issue, because it doesn't search for devices at every startup but memorizes previously used devices. So I can select SMB there without an issue and VLC even starts up the NAS when trying to access the folder.

Short answer would be no... this platform is a PITA to work with, with vlc. Can't make any promises unfortunately.
