Streaming from PC to Xbox One using upnp server: no subtitles

I have added my video and audio files to the respective Windows 10 libraries, so I can access them on the Xbox One. When I choose the "browse" option in VLC on the Xbox One, four folders are listed: music, pictures, playlists and videos. I guess these are somehow linked to the Windows libraries. I can play the files, but videos are played without subtitles, which are in the same folder as the video files, with the exact same name and in .srt format. I can't select them while playing a video either, as the app says no subtitles are found. When I play the exact same video files from a usb drive, the subtitles are shown automatically. So the problem only manifests itself while streaming.
Any solution?

What's your files/folders layout? Can you try putting a single video file and subtitle file per folder? There is a known bug about this which you may be experiencing.

I added the folders to the Windows video library one by one by right-clicking the folder and selecting "add to library>videos". To give you an example, I have a folder named "films". It contains 14 other folders, which contain one movie and its subtitles (and sometimes a .jpeg with the dvd cover). Some folders have sub folders which contain one movie and its subtitles. So every movie that has subtitles is in a separate (sub)folder with no other movies or subtitles. There are some folders with more than one video file, but those don't contain subtitles.
