Auto-Search

This is my first time using VLC media player on my computer but I've been using in on both my Android devices for over a year without problems.
On Android you can auto populate your library so easily it was child's play, on the Windows 10 version I can't figure it out and this is where I need the most help with. I have four hard drives, all of which might have video files many of which most likely are doubles, so I need this feature.
Can anyone tell me if it's been taken out or it is done differently? On android, the first time you open the app, it asks you do you want it to search for all media files and once it's done do you want it to keep itself updated? None of this happened with the windows version. Did I download the wrong software?
If anyone can help I'd gladly appreciate it. :( :( :( :?: :?:

Are using the Store version or the version from videolan.org?

VLC Media Player 3.0.4 Vetinari

I went to load the player from the Windows store but a message appeared saying something to the effect that it wasn't the complete version and that some CODECs would be missing, or something very similar. It had a link to get the full version that I now have and I do believe that it was downloaded from videolan.org directly.
