Where are your files located on your computer?
Can you access them from another app?
You should probably look into how to make a network discoverable drive on Windows.

There was no update of the app so I'd say the issue is not coming from VLC.
Which version of Windows did you have and which one do you have now?
Have you tried to access the files from another app?
Like I said, it probably has to do with network drive discovery. Right click on your 'Downloads' folder, go to 'Properties' and fiddle around in the 'Share' tab.

i have made sure network discovery is turned on i went into properties for that folder and shared it now i open VLC player app on the xbox i then go to browse come up with smb "Sams-PC" so i click on it then a message pops up and says YOUR INPUT CAN NOT BE OPENED VLC is unable to open the MRL "smb://Sams-PC". Check the log for details. is there something else im doing wrong?

I have the same problem and can't get it working. It works when I stream to other PCs though.
