Buffer management in VLC Windows Store ?

Hi,

I have a W10 tablet running "VLC win32" and "VLC store". I watch videos that are stored on a SMB share on the local network.

VLC win32 plays the videos fine, but "VLC store" doesn't : pretty often the image gets green and blocky. The point is that my wifi network is a bit unstable, so I tried copying the videos on the tablet, and VLC store plays them fine.

So, I don't know, but my guess is that VLC store doesn't buffer enough of the video while playing it, isn't it ? The problem is that I can't see any setting related to that.

Any solution ?

PS : the videos are h264/aac made with ffmpeg.

Hi PierU,

Network code is no different in the Store version, so that's not normal behavior I'd say.
But then again, how unstable is your network exactly?

Does this happen with every videos or have you found videos that play just fine?

Any video will do the same (on the other hand all my videos are of the same kind, h264 generated either by Handbrake or ffmpeg).

When I copy a file on this tablet through the wifi network I can see brief interruptions (less than 1 sec.) where the transfer rate drops to almost zero. The average transfer rate is ~5MB/s. Anyway, VLC win32 has no trouble with that...

You will find 2 log files ("BackendLog.txt", "FrontendLog.txt") at this location:

C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\Packages\VideoLAN.VLCxxxxx\LocalState

I can't find these files there... Apart from 4 .sqlite files, the only other file is "LogFile.txt", which doesn't seem to contain useful information for our problem :
