any fixes for .wav on Win Phone?

Being on a windows phone (I agree, it is awful!), it is difficult to navigate the site, so apologies if this has been dealt with by previous posts.
Although I normally use mp3's for most music, I tend to use .wav and flacs for certain other types of music, or to demonstrate music I have made as playback should be better with them for use through external speaker devices.
However, as I am sure devs are aware, there us an issue with at least .wav files not being able to play when screen is locked, so phone has to be held in hand rather than comfortably in pocket or safe dry place.
So far as I am aware, there seems to be no way, as a VLC user to fix this, and there seem to have been no fixes from the VLC team.
Is this an incomparability issue with Win Phone?
Or is it a patent/copyright/codec issue?
It would be very interesting to understand.
Another issue with many (perhaps all) .wav playback on VLC is that when I attempt to push a music track forward, for e.g. to skip a boring part of a track, the little slide control won't react to my finger slides and just plays from start to finish without allowing me to push it back or forth.
I guess this will be an interconnected issue?
I am guessing in advance with the poor reputation or win phone that devs perhaps don't feel it worthwhile to fix?
Many thanks, and thanks for what has been for me the most reliable media player I have ever used for versatility
