Xbox one major bug

Postby Fatman010 » 18 Oct 2016 17:42

Hi guys,

So glad to see VLC is on Xbox One now! It has all the features I wanted to see in an Xbox One media player.
The only problem is, it crashes after 6 minutes. Without exception. My theory: my external HDD (which is where all the files are located that I play in VLC) spools down. Different HDD's do this so it is definitely the app.
Anyone know a way around this? This app changes how I watch movies and my entire Xbox experience (if it worked for longer than 6 minutes that is). Any advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Daan

It's a 5TB NTFS harddrive. Which HDD do you use?

1 tb usb3 and a small 320 gb usb2. The first is "integrated to the xbox" and the later is just to keep some series

Can you explain what you mean by "integrated to the xbox"? Does that mean it is formatted to store apps etc?
And that 320 gb drive. Is that by any chance an SSD?

Yeah, formatted to store apps. When I transfer files via my PC to the Xbox with the VLC web interface, they stay in that drive (local storage). The small drive is just an old non-ssd drive I extracted from a pc with a chinese HDD 2.5 case.

When you say that different hdds also make vlc to stop working, do these same hdd work with the xbox media player app?

I have the exact same problem, though I don't even get to 6 minutes most times.

I have all my music (40gbs worth) stored on a USB flash drive and any time I try to use the 'Background Music' feature, it works fine for about 30 seconds to a minute than the entire app just crashes. I've noticed it tends to happen a lot whenever a lot of noise is generated by the game itself, almost as though the system can't handle the different audio 'channels' if that makes sense - but that would be silly.
