No Audio

I download it with using the VLC software. My assumption is that all these downloads should play using the VLC Media Player.

I am using Firefox on WIN/XP - SP3 - Media Edition.
I have just started using VLC and expected all the downloadable files displayed should be playable. Is this not the case?
