I have VLC installed on my Windows Phone and I use it for watching videos and listening to music stored locally on my SD card.

Today I connected my phone to my PC and deleted some music from my SD card but VLC did not update the list of albums available on my phone. The refresh button did not correct this issue.

I could see no way to manually delete from the app and so I had to uninstall VLC and reinstall to correct this issue.

Hoping for a solution to this issue in the app at some point in the future - or to be directed to the right way to delete files from within the app?

This is a good idea.

This is a bug. Album that doesn't exist should go away, at least when you try to play them.

I'm getting the same thing happening. Refresh appears to do nothing. Attempting to play them does delete the album but not the artist and it seems to sometimes crash VLC. As far as I can tell refresh does nothing.
