Bitstream audio support on Xbox 1S

another Alpha Ring update yesterday, with no noticeable change to the audio or anything...it looks like they implemented Dolby Atmos as a primary system sound across whole menu, system sounds and every app...which I don´t really get, as to how that´s even possible to artificially create spatial sound from let´s say basic stereo input...I even tried regular CD via CD player app, my AVR displays Dolby Atmos (in Pure Direct mode) with noticeable sounds coming from surrounds...I have a 5.1 setup.
Then I played a DTS:X demo via VLC app, Atmos on display again...
