Xbox One X - Hebrew subtitles (srt) displayed as gibberish

Postby ubswrk » 25 Dec 2017 20:56

Hi,
New with One X, I’m playing media from a network location with srt containing Hebrew subtitles. It looks like that the subtitles from the srt file are being loaded, but the Hebrew fonts are displayed as gibberish.
How do I configure Hebrew fonts properly on One X?
Any help will be highly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi ubswrk,
Just had a look. It seems that encoding needs to be changed but that feature is currently not available.

Hi ubswrk,

So, the option was there but there was another issue preventing it from working. This will be fixed in the next version.

On the video player screen:
-> click on the options button (left from volume slider),
-> then click on the 3 dots at the bottom of the screen,
-> Settings
-> Video Settings, scroll down, subtitles encoding.

Select "Windows-1255" or "ISO 8859-8" for Hebrew.

Like I said, you'll have to wait for the next update for it to work correctly.
