VLC crashing when played background XBO

So as the title suggests, whenever I minimize VLC on the Xbox One it crashes after about 10-15 seconds. This is extremely frustrating as it is pretty much the only good app on the Xbox one store that works both with DLNA servers and in the background. Although because a lot of people have said on older posts that an update a while back fixed this for a lot of people I'm beginning to think it's on my end? None of the other apps that boast a background audio other than the Spotify Music - for Xbox One app works for longer than a few moments. Any advice at all would be much appreciated.

It's not. Issue has been identified, the fix is just a little... tricky.

Okay I've read through most of that thread and some discrepancies from my issues. I'm using v2.5.5.6 VLC for the Xbox One and i am playing music over both UPnP and SMB connections. Both times the music stopped playing within 10 or so seconds and shortly afterwards VLC crashed. I believe it occurred in that order as well. Also the music I was playing is in the M4A format and not flac or mp3. Is this part of the problem? Would mp3 work consistently in the background if over SMB? Thanks !

The problem is unrelated to the file format, so even if mp3 might help, it does not solve the underlying issue.
