Surround sound messed up (Xbox One)

Postby X1 Two » 07 Oct 2016 19:26

Basically what is supposed to come out of the center and front speakers is coming out of the back speakers and the other way around. My settings: HDMI Audio off, Optical audio: Bitstream out, Bitstream format: neither DTS nor Dolby Digital change anything. Setting optical out to uncompressed stereo is a workaround to have working sound but only in 2.1.

Aside from that the beta is working great.

Got the same problem here with Xbox One S and Yamaha amp, the rear speakers seems to play the sound that should come from the front speakers. The rear sound is so loud that i can't here the front speakers.

Same problem in DTS, PCM or Dolby configuration in xbox menu, the surround sound is normal with the Microsoft bluray player.

I also have the same issue with the surround sound coming out wrong. Excact same symptoms as the others in this thread. This is using an Onkyo TX-RS710.

I have a MAC connected to my amplifier via HDMI. When I play a file via VLC in surround it will play everything but the voices in the center. I have tried changing the setting under audio > audio device > HDMI. However it doesn't solve the problem. quicktime does play the file correctly. Any ideas?

I was very happy that VLC finally arrived at XboX One, but unfortunately the surround sound is very bad!

I'm using a Marantz SR5008 AVR receiver with Audio Monitor speakers, but since the sound is very bad, I'm still using Plex or the built-in media player from Microsoft.

I have the exact same issue with my Samsung 5.1 surround sound system and like X1, i've only been able get it working on 2.1
It would be awesome if anyone has any suggestions for workarounds that actually enable us to enjoy playback on 5.1
