No screen timeout when listening to music on iPhone

VLC iOS app seems to override the device's screen timeout setting. That may be practical when watching video, but is impractical when chosing an album to listen to and then letting it be on a table for instance - the screen will then remain on for at least the album's length.
Can't find a setting in the app or in the iPhone's app settings. Is there a way to change this behaviour to screen timing out when music is playing but no other actions are made?
