Have VLC on AppleTV autostart an RTSP stream...

I am looking for a way to setup a hotkey on an ATV remote that could call up VLC and automatically connect to a predefined RTSP connection to a doorbell camera.

I guess I first need to figure out if apple will allow me to store that as a startup in VLC... Then is there a hotkey that can be setup with an ATV remote...

You cannot configure keys on Apple TV remotes as a user as far as I know. You can probably use a third party remote with more buttons and configure it for Apple TV but even then this wouldn't work I fear.

Once you opened a RTSP stream with VLC on Apple TV, it will be listed as part of the last 50 streams played and can be easily recovered. There is no work-flow at the moment to immediately start a stream when the app starts though.
