VLC unable to auto-populate audio files in iPhone

Postby account4forums » 06 Feb 2025 04:06

On Andriod - from Dropbox, I copied a folder containing my CD Collection with songs categorised by Artist (sub-folders) to my Andriod phones's local storage.
Opened VLC and VLC will do a discovery and auto-populated the video and audio tabs.

New to IOS. Bought an iPhone recently and did the same.

On IOS - from Dropbox, I copied a folder containing my CD Collection with songs categorised by Artist (sub-folders) to my iPhone's local storage.
Opened VLC and nothing happens. No video, audio detected by VLC. I can go to -> Network -> Local Files and find each folder to play the mp3 but that's all I can do.
VLC does not populate it's video and audio tabs. I've reinstalled and restarted the iPhone.

Is there something wrong with my iPhone or something that I have to do or set that is unique to iPhone?

Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

You need to move your media to the VLC folder to achieve the behavior you want. On iPhone, VLC cannot automatically parse other app's folders such as Dropbox. This is a limitation of the operating system.
