VLC 3.6.4 iOS use filenames instead of metadata?

Postby TheHistorian » 01 Feb 2025 08:55

VLC 3.6.4
iOS 18.2

On my computer, I have audio files arranged in folders, with simple sorting by filename.

Transfer files directly to the VLC app on my iPhone, and it doesn't respect folder structure or organization by filenames. It's clearly reading metadata to figure out the sorting. I'm not going to check and normalize the metadata on 20k+ files. Is there a way to have the app be, well, dumber, and just use folder/filenames instead? For us dinosaurs who want to listen to albums, it's painful as is.

Yes, we will add a mode for this in the next major update. Until then, sadly, there is no way for you to change this behavior.
