iPhone 12 mini, IOS 16.3.1, VLC 3.4.9 (550), Shure Aonic 3 wired earphones with remote control on the wire, and 3.5mm-to-Lightning DAC mini-cable. Listening only to local (in-phone) FLAC files and some MP3s.
In Settings, I figured "Forward skip" and "Backward Skip" were related to the "swipe right/left to skip" gestures. I don't like gesture control, but... OK.
Then a couple of days later, after tapping on a song then on the play control strip to get the full-screen current-song display, two round buttons showing the times I had set for back and forward skip had suddenly appeared between the row of play control buttons and the time/seek bar. I tapped them and the skips worked. Two minutes later, these buttons were gone. I may have switched the UI to some other part and come back, or tried some combos on the remote in the meantime.
The only similar function on the Shure remote is Fast Forward: "double-click and hold center button". It doesn't work because it starts IOS "Voice Control", a known problem. Navigation between songs is a mess. Only volume and call management are reliable.
I very much would like these buttons to come back and STAY FOREVER.
Note: there is a Lightning cable/remote for earlier Shure earbuds (https://tinyurl.com/yv3f5r2e), but I don't know if it's compatible with the Aonic 3, it's been discontinued, can only be found for USD/EUR/CHF 100.-, and has exactly the same design, features and remote functions.
