Hi Everyone. Just direct copied my old iphone to my new iPhone and nothing from VLC came across either in app or in MyFiles.
Reset the phone and done the recovery the old school way by backing up to PC then restoring via USB cable, still no VLC data.
Surely I dont lose all my songs and playlists with my old phone :(

You need to include the media in your backup. This is opt-in in VLC for iOS. Please see the settings within the app.

I'm shocked as to why this isnt on by default? Obviously people would want their media backed up?
I really don't want to have to spend another 4 hours restoring my phone again, how else can I get my stuff across onto my new phone?

This is off by default as most people use the default 5 GB free iCloud storage for backup and that is easily exceeded by the content typically stored in the VLC app.

The easiest 2 options are either using WiFi sharing (which would require you to click once for every item you have, which can be long) or attach both devices to a Mac/PC and do the file transfer with Finder/Explorer (or iTunes on older Macs/PCs). However, transferring the content manually will make you loose playback progress and custom playlists.

Thank you for your reply.
Do you have any links or guides for the Finder/Explorer transfer on a Mac/PC.

I've tried to include media in my backup as you suggested, but now my VLC on my iPhone doesn't load. The screen becomes blank, and it looks like my iPhone freezes. I guess this issue began after I updated the iOS to a newer version.

This pertains to connecting an USB music folder to an iPhone/iPad via a Lightning Male to USB Female Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08THFDPDC?ps ... ct_details

I was hoping VLC iOS would be more like the PC version. It is difficult to use on an iPhone.

My plan being a novice at iOS was to attach my USB music folder to the iPhone, and play all music folders/songs on the USB. Did not want to load all my music files onto my iPhone - too much storage requirements.

Bottom line, you can only play one song at a time. And then must select another song. BORING! Cannot select an entire USB connected music folder. I confirmed this with Apple support. Might not be totally a VLC issue. The tech at Apple said he would pass my situation on to Apple development. Not holding my breath as Apple, like all others wants to make money. I could not buy enough storage for my iPhone XR to support even one USB.

Wondering if instead of the attached USB to my iPhone, I could use Cloud Service's/iCloud?!

Any help with this if my post is wrong? Or other solutions not to need to download the USB music folders to my iPhone XR?

Thanks for replies, BJEvS

Thnx for sharing. Sounds interesting. But TBH, I don't really wanna buy anything right now. So, I guess I'll figure it out myself and play around with the settings.
