VLC always begins at +12 dB, even if I set it to 0 dB on preferences

Every time I open a video, it starts loud. This is easily fixed by reopening the equalizer and then closing it, but I have to do it every time. Some times like 5-10 times per hour, depending on the duration of my videos

I have checked the preferences and there is a section where I set the Audio pre-amp level to 0 db. I dont find a setting for just video so I'm guessing it's for both

This happens on my ipad but I'm not sure if it happens in my android device aswell. If that were the case, do I have to post this bug on that forum as well?

Thanks in advance

Do you have an equalizer profile enabled?

I tend to move in between classical and disabling. Every time I reenable classical it seems to be +12 dB by default and disabling a profile makes it 0 dB.

From your question, my guess is that I have to keep the equalizer profile enabled for the pre-amp level to work. I'm not sure if that's obvious and I was unintelligent. If that solves my issue (I will check when I play videos) there won't be a need for another reply from me in this topic, so thanks for mentioning it

Sadly, some equalizer profiles include a pre-amp setting while others do not. This is very old legacy code that wasn't reworked in a long time in the cross-platform part of VLC. We might do something about it in version 4.
