No audio from .mkv or .mlp files

Postby mckayallday » 23 Sep 2023 08:04

Hiya, VLC experts! Thanks for what you do! I have a couple of files that are in both .mlp and .mkv formats. I can play the mlp version via usb drive directly plugged into my Onkyo AVR. It plays in full Atmos discrete audio in my studio. However, if I try playing either format file in VLC on any of 3 devices, the file loads fine and the progress bar of the file moves (playing), but I get no audio from either format. I tried using VLC on my Apple TV 4k, a new ipad, and an iPhone 11. VLC WILL play mp4 files over hdmi in full Dolby Atmos. But with mkv or mpl, I get no audio from the ipad or phone with or without an hdmi adapter (builtin speakers-only are no audio as well). I also tried using the Files app share technique with no luck. Additionally, I tried the subtitles menu option where you can select the audio track to no avail. The Infuse app for iOS plays the mov files so they aren’t seemingly corrupted. Though, I want to try VLC. Any ideas?

I have the latest available version of the app for iOS 16 and for Apple TV.
