Empty Media Library

I'm running 3.4 525 on iOS 16.6 (beta). This happened also with the previous iOS beta.
I transfer media to the folder seeing it there but VLC claims Empty Media Library. Searching here shows a few others have seen this in the past but AFAIK, no solutions were published. I'd like to solve this so I'm open to suggestions. TIA
