3.4.2 Still has issues…

Hi,

I have just updated today to your new 3.4.2 version of VLC and I am still experiencing the strange behaviour that within iOS you HAVE to have VLC open and running in the background for a file to open.

The integration with the “Open in VLC” button and Share Sheet options within the native Files is still broken.

When you tap on these options all that happens is that it opens VLC into an empty window. Then you have to go back to the Files app and tap on it again, which THEN finally opens the file.

I have been trying to get this issue looked at for weeks. Can it please be taken seriously?

Maybe this will be fixed in 3.4.3?

The issue is not resolved so far. We will do it for 3.4.4: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc- ... ssues/1678

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to me and that’s great that you are now aware of the issue.

Can I ask why the fix isn’t being implemented until version 3.4.4 rather than (I presume?) the next release or 3.4.3?

Thanks

3.4.3 was rushed this morning to address a 100% crash on audio playback on iOS 9 and 10.

The fix for your problem was not ready this week but I did it now so it will be part of the next release.

Awesome, thank you! Do you know when 3.4.4 will be released?

So, any update on when 3.4.4 version will be released?

I pushed a binary for review to Apple yesterday, but found a show stopping bug in the last minute. I expect the update to be out later this week.

Hi,

Ah ok! So the fix for my issue should be out by the weekend?

What was the show stopping bug? Just wondering if we should avoid the next update if it pops up today in case Apple missed it)?

It should be out by the weekend. The buggy variant will never reach the public.

My issue is not fixed.. I can’t download subtitles to the movies I put on remote playback
whenever I try to download it shows that no subtitles were found. It’s on all of the movies even ones that I already download subtitles in the past. I tried all the classic solutions, but nothing worked. I’ll be glad for your help. Thank you.

Hello,

The subtitles download server maintained and hosted by opensubtitles.org is currently broken and does not allow any downloads. I asked them to fix it but I have no idea when or if they will do that.

Sorry for that.
