Missing user/password prompt in VLC's Samba favorites

Hello everyone,
I've been using VideoLAN's VLC media player for a while now and I've noticed a small issue with its Samba favorites feature. Specifically, when adding a Samba network location as a favorite in VLC, the program doesn't prompt for credentials.
This means that if you're trying to access a Samba share that requires a password, you won't be able to do so through VLC's favorites unless you manually edit the path to include the username and password later.
Also found: timed out sessions of secured SMB sessions cause app critical misbeveaving. TL-DR
I think it would be helpful if VLC added credential prompt when adding Samba favorites.
