VLC Skips to the next file

Got a weird issue with VLC on iPad talking to an SMB server on a Raspberry Pi. Steps to reproduce:

1. Start playing a video from a folder (and let it play for a few minutes)
2. Pause and rewind the video about 30 seconds
3. Let the video continue playing
4. Once the video reaches the point where you paused it, it will move on to playing the next file

It _appears_ that VLC disconnects from the SMB server when it rewinds the video, and either doesn't attempt to reconnect or can't reconnect in time to continue playing the video, so it assumes that it's reached the end of the file.

VLC has only been installed this last week, and it's running version 3.3.12

Is this a change from previous versions of VLC on iPad?

I've noticed this too on my iPad when playing videos from a Samba share located on an OrangePI.

Unfortunately I don't know how it worked in previous versions, but from my experience on Android and desktop, it doesn't happen there. BTW the play/pause and next/prev buttons are really close together and very small, so I'm not entirely certain that I didn't tap the wrong button by mistake...

It's also skipping every other file as it doesn't wait long enough, fails, then moves to the next file. Song ends, can't locate next file fast enough, skips to the next one.

It's a huge issue. VLC is broken at this point if "play next file" can't chill out.

Workaround!

Set it to Shuffle On. Make sure it stays On. Now go back in and turn Shuffle off. It may act weird when you do. Once shuffle is set to Off and stays there, you'll notice it's playing them in order finally. It's a turn it off and then on again fix. Works with MKV or MP3, whatever you have.
