Video disappears during playback and can't be restored

Sometimes, after I have touched the screen of my iPad for some reason while a video is playing in VLC, the video disappears. It gets minimised to a bar at the bottom of the screen. However, the sound continues to play. Presumably there is some way to restore the display of the video after this happens, but I cannot for the life of me work out what it is. Can anyone help me?
