Deleted videos move to ‘system data’

Hi,

I recently downloaded VLC on my new iPhone and it’s been working perfectly fine except one problem. Whenever I’ve watched an episode I delete it to save storage, but when I do, the video just gets moved to system data. I’ve restarted my phone multiple times, tried so many ways online to clear system data, but it only goes down 100-200 MB which I’m guessing is cache from other apps. I have also deleted and re-downloaded the app, but still no result. This also happened on my old iPhone 13 and I had to factory reset it to fix the problem, however, I don’t want to go through that hassle again. I’m on iOS 16.1 iPhone 14 Pro. Anyone know any other fix or also experiencing this problem?

I have the exact same problem on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and I guess only solution is factory resetting. It's so annoying, I don't use VLC app anymore because of this problem.

Both times, with the 13 & 14 Pro, I thought since they have only been out for a few months, it might just be a bug but your phone should surely be optimised seeing as it’s been out for probably more than 2 years :/… After all this, I’ve now left VLC too. I tried documents by readdle and infuse but they have the exact same problem. I’ll have to now factory reset too as I have over 50gb in my system data :/

To solve this, just go to Settings in the VLC app. Under the Privacy section, enable ‘Hide the media library in files’. The problem occurs when there are ways to delete the app data without launching the app (for example, from the files app). With this setting enabled, the only way to delete data is from within the app itself.
