VLC on Apple TV, playing files in random order

Hi
I am thinking to buy a Apple TV, before I buy I had following question.
I know we can play the files located on a NAS, but is it possible to play files from a certain folder in random order.
I found a post on this forum talking about this aspect. Apparently it was still being developed in 2021.
But found nothing if this feature was already added.
