Hello,
I'm hoping that someone out there has run into this before. I have a fairly large library of music on my Windows PC and have transferred 99% of it to VLC IOS app. However, what's puzzling is the remaining 1%. I started looking at individual artists and don't understand why there is a gap. Originally, in a post from a month or two ago, I had learned that I had some tracks with duplicate file names. That has now been corrected, and there are no more filenames with duplicate names. In the example I'm giving here, ITunes says there are 143 songs for a particular artist to transfer to VLC IOS. I use the FileSharing function in Itunes to transfer them to VLC IOS, and Itunes says it transferred 143 songs, without any "errors" or "warnings". However, after the fact, when I go look inside VLC IOS for that artist, it is showing 141 songs. It would obviously be a time-consuming project to figure out which ones did not transfer, given the number of tracks involved.
What I don't know is what to look for. Here are some things I've noticed that may or may not be a factor, but thus far have proven to be inconclusive
1) Some of the filenames start with "00 -" as the indicator of the track number. Inside of Windows, there is no track number given. However, in searching thru this particular artist, it turns out there are more than 3 tracks that are missing a track number, which may be coincidental, however, it is more than the number of tracks missing in VLC IOS.
2) I've used another app as much as possible in Windows to ensure that all of the characteristics of the songs are very similar, with the obvious exception of song title, track number, and album title. So, the fact that ITunes and Windows both say I have 143 tracks under this artist lead me to believe I have classified them appropriately.
3) Does a missing characteristic of a track cause it to not show in VLC IOS? Is there some important attribute that must be "filled in" in order that VLC IOS see it?
4) I know the problem resides within VLC IOS I believe, because at a high level, I am missing just 8 tracks from my list that I uploaded from my Windows PC list of almost 7000 tracks. I used some of the capabilities in VLC IOS to create a "playlist" with ALL tracks available in VLC IOS, and the grand total is 8 short of what I'm showing in Windows and ITunes.
5) Is there an "unclassified" section in VLC IOS where I might find the missing 8 tracks?
I'm looking for any ideas that any of you have had in trying to do this yourself. I'm guessing the problem is caused by either something missing or something that Windows did when originally burning them to my Windows PC.
