Hello!
I'm using VLC on my Apple TV 4K. It's working excellent when accessing files on local network, but every other day i have to restart my router and modem in order to access local network.
Does anyone here know why that might be the case?

Sounds like a bug with your router and nothing we can fix in VLC.

How many machines do you have on the network ? Did you try to assign fixed IP address in a reserved space? Are you using an ipv6 compatible router ?
