Network streaming/password.

I’m using VLC to access a camera using a rtsp:// connection, via network streaming.

I have to type a username and password in order for it to work, but when connecting, I very rarely get the option to type anything. It simply tried to connect and fails (because I haven’t typed a username/password).

It there anyway to force it to ask for a password. Or can you type it anywhere in the app, so it works automatically.

I hope someone can help :)

This is very weird. VLC should always ask for the password if it needs one. Everything else is a bug. What is the camera that you are using?

Sorry about the (very) late reply:

I have no idea what camera it's for. It a surveillance camera (mounted in a glass dome) that's really just used to see if there are customers in our service desk.

I have tried both removing and deleting the app. Forgetting the network. Clearing the app cache. Shutting off the iPad and starting again.

The only thing that seems to work, in the slightest, is deleting the app, shutting off the iPad and leaving it for a few hours. Then, some times, VLC will promt me for username/password and then it'll run smoothly. (Doesn't really make much sense).

On windows we use the program IP Centcom without any issues, but it seems like VLC isn't 100% compatible with either the camera or rtsp address (?)

All suggestions are much appreciated!!!
