Apple TV MacBook Pro SMB

Hello,
Recently noticed an issue when trying to play back video files via SMB on appleTV from Macbook pro. I am able to login and see all the files on my harddrive, but when trying to play video it just stalls out and nothing happens. I tried updating appletv and uninstalling the VLC app. Now when I try playing anything via SMB the VLC app crashes and sends me back to the home screen of apple tv.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
AppleTV version: tvOS 15.4.1
Macbook pro Version: MacOS Monterey 12.3.1
