Has anyone else noticed excessive battery drain on the latest VLC for iPadOS? I’m seeing about 1% per minute. However watching the same video via nPlayer I’m only seeing 1% drop every 10 minutes.

I’m sure VLC used to be similar to nPlayer

Hello,

Could you describe the type of the video ?

Additionally, if you could share the logs from the video playback it would help us greatly !

You can enable it at the end of the settings and find the log file in the Files app.

Thanks for the reply

Here’s an image showing the video info https://i.postimg.cc/2SN6dxnP/C3-B175-F ... D2-AF3.jpg

And the following is the log file created while a video was playing.

On my iPad it eats a lot of battery too.
iPad Air 4. Gen
ios: 16.1

To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.

From windows command line or linux or macos terminal, launch vlc with options -vv and --logfile=file

  • Windows example: vlc.exe -vv --logfile=c:\vlclog.txt
  • Linux example: vlc -vv --logfile=vlclog.txt, or vlc -vv 2>&1 > logfile.txt
Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)

Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.
