network stream play box does not remain open

ios 14.8.1 When I click on the network stream, the box with the play button will pop up and then recede. It is not present long enough to click on it and why it just disappears, I don't know. It does this with any network stream in my case am doing an audio stream. This happens every time. I have deleted and reloaded the app several times and the result is the same every time. Any suggestions would be welcome.

This sounds like VLC is incapable of playing the stream. Regrettably, no error message will be given in some cases, playback will just stop the way you described.
