Unable to expand out of mini-player mode for audio files

When I start a song playing from an audio file (I've done this with .ogg and .mp3 files) the audio plays, but the only controls I'm shown are in the mini-player, and I cannot expand that at all to get at more nuanced controls that would, for example, allow me to set a playlist of audio files to repeat or shuffle.

There doesn't seem to be any way to expand the mini-player for video files either, if I minimize them to the mini-player.

VLC for iOS v3.2.13 (375)
iPhone SE, iOS v15.2

What happens if you touch the artwork or the minimized video output?

Nothing.

I should mention that in the multi-select mode, tapping on the icons at the bottom of the screen also does nothing except cause them to darken (indicating that they have, indeed, been touched).

I should also mention that the areas of the screen that I have to touch to get those icons to change color (despite them not doing Jack otherwise) is ... unexpectedly, and in my opinion unreasonably, small and precise.

The selection issue has been fixed and should be released with the next version.

That's good to know, thanks. Is there an ETA for the release of the next version?

Also, does the next version also fix the inability to expand the mini-player too?

The expand issue is a weird one, we will try to reproduce it.

I will say that the iPhone SE has one of the smallest screens of any of Apple's mobile device offerings still being manufactured for sale.

I've run into issues with other applications or websites that seem to be developed with an expectation of the device having more screen real-estate than mine does -- webpages that refuse to scroll despite having their SUBMIT buttons beyond the bottom of my screen, applications that display confirmation buttons in pop-up cards that are hidden by the on-screen keyboard, etc., so it wouldn't surprise me to learn that my screen is just ... so small that the touch-sensitive zone is so tiny for some reason that I can't hit it properly.

I will say that, unlike with the audio files, when I minimize Video playback to the mini-player I can get back to fullscreen mode by having "always resume" and "always play in fullscreen" selected and then tapping the file again -- it doesn't lose my place in the video (there is a minor stutter as the app presumably loads the video "again" ... at the same position). Doing this for audio files, though, just produces the stutter and loads the file in the mini-player. Would it be feasible to maybe add a similar option for audio files, to always launch in a full-screen player, as is available for videos?

Indeed, we do have that feature for audio, which we could consider for video files.

Thank you for your feedback !

Hello! I'm sound guy. And I'm using VLC on very big & smaller shows/festivals for setting sound equalisations and checking sound system.
In about one year backwards, I had same problem. Till now. I have in my SE2nd testing songs for setting EQ of a sound system, and I can see only small bar without option for move ffwind or rewind in song to replay special pasages of song with conrete frequencies. Any touching on booklet or finger splitting do nothing. I can only jump next/previous song.
When I need it to do search in song, I must lock my iPhone and do ffwind or rewind on locked iPhone display. It's just crazy 1983 style.
Help me pls how to expand the window.
Or It will make me crazy...
Thanks Jarda Matucha Prague

Now I have news.:
*Sorry, I haven't setted english in my phone(VLC).

When I open VLC -> sound(music) -> album of artist -> and long pres the concrete song -> then I can see list of actions -> press Play song -> it opens itself in full-screen -> then in menu (...)in bottom of screen use option lock *playspace.
You can not change anything. ffwind/rewind,anything.
Now, when you turn VLCapp off by home button, and slide out,and reopen, this one time you can select your song to open by one touch to open in full screen. Just only one time. When you try to look at menu (...) in bottom, the *playspace is not locked, but was possible to select track by one click(touch). On next restart app will everything wrong like on start. Small player without option ffwind/rewind....
You must play your song from the list opened after long press this song. After this will vlc open it in full screen.
This is my new experience...
