Stream from iPad Pro to AppleTV wireless? (x265)

Hello!, newbie here. Sorry if this has been asked before.

I have several movies and shows in my iPad Pro (all 1080p, x265) and I can't find a way to stream them to my AppleTV.

I can see my iPad show up inside VLC app in AppleTV, and even see the list of movies and shows, but whenever I click on any of them it shows an orange background with some path to the file, but it doesn't play at all.

Sometimes I've had a wheel turning for a couple of seconds, but still no playback.

Is there a way to stream wireless these files, other than mirroring the iPad on the AppleTV? This is what I've been using so far but it has a choppy playback from time to time.

What you could do in order to stream your content of your iPad onto the AppleTV is the screen mirroring feature.

Thank you for your answer, that's what I've been using so far (mirroring), but I thought maybe there was a way to stream with airplay or some other wireless option instead.

I have a iPad Air 4, iPadOS 15.1 with a 1080p, H264 short Avatar movie clip which I can select and play from VLC for tvOS.

Just to clarify, is the issue just with x265 files or any file stored on the iPad.

I just downloaded a few x265 files to v3.2.13 VLC-iPadOS 15.1/iPad Air 4 and I was able to play them via SMB on the v3.0.12 VLC-tvOS 15.1.1/ATV4K.
