Dolby Atmos with VLC on ATV 4k?

Hi,

I have been using VLC on Apple TV for a long time, and have been very happy with it.

Now I have a new audio system (Sonos Arc) connected to my TV that supports Dolby Atmos. I know that Apple TV supports Dolby Atmos with content in the Apple TV+ app, and playing supported content in ATV+ works with the Sonos Arc audio system - I am getting Dolby Atmos output that is working.

I was hoping to be able to play Dolby Atmos supported content (e.g. in .mkv-files) using VLC on Apple TV, but have sofar been unable to do it.
Is it possible to do it?

If it is - what do I need to do to get the Dolby Atmos audio to work?
If it is currently not - how so, and could it be possible to make it work?

Thanks.

Apple removed the API needed to output any multi-channel audio in encoded form. We had it working for tvOS 10 years ago but in subsequent releases Apple decided "to fix this bug", so we can no longer do it. If they reconsider, we would be very happy to support it immediately.
