Wifi Sharing IPV6 address

A couple of days ago I got a new phone (iPhone). I re-installed VLC and I'm trying to set up the sharing via Wi-Fi - so I enabled it and it gives me a different looking IP address than the previous one. The IP on this new phone gives me an IPV6, others have been IPV4.
I entered it as it is into the URL of Chrome and it doesn't load onto any server. Rather - a google search. So I tried it without the 'http://', and same thing.I tried converting it to an IPV4, and it didn't connect to anything.
The iPhone is awake and connected onto the same network as on my Mac. I thought enabling IPV6 support would work but it didn't do anything.
