VLC on ATV-4K not properly outputting 6.1 sound to 5.1 sound system

I have content with this audio stream:

Stream #0:1: Audio: dts (DTS-HD MA), 48000 Hz, 6.1, s32p (24 bit) (default)

When I play it on VLC or any other player from a computer to a 5.1 surround stereo system, it plays fine.

When I play it with the latest Testflight build of VLC for Apple TV, the output is scrambled -- the sound that should be coming out of front center speakers comes out of the back instead. To my ears, it sounds like front and back are flipped.

Same behavior whether I allow SPDIF output for not.

Is this a VLC Apple TV bug? Anything I can do to help narrow the issue?

To eliminate possible network issues, upload the file using 'Sharing via WiFi' to the ATV-4K and then try playing it.

Probably not related, but also try turning Hardware Decoding OFF on the ATV-4K. It seemed fix my problem playing Avatar & Interstellar MKV files.

Replicated issue with file uploaded to VLC over network - identical behavior.

Replicated issue with hardware decoding off - identical behavior.
